MICE² – Microplastic Impact on Carbon Exchange by City Ecosystems
MICE² is an interdisciplinary research project of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) investigating how microplastic pollution affects urban soils, ecosystem respiration and the exchange of carbon dioxide (CO₂) between cities and the atmosphere.
Using Modena as a pilot urban laboratory, MICE² combines atmospheric monitoring, ecological experiments, remote sensing and environmental modelling to better understand the links between microplastics, urban ecosystems and climate mitigation.
